One World Broadcasting Trust sponsors screening at UK’s Leading Documentary Festival

The film ‘Enemies of Happiness’, a documentary about one of the few female politicians in Afghanistan, was screened in November at the UK’s premier documentary festival, the Sheffield Doc/Fest. The screening was sponsored by the One World Broadcasting Trust.
‘Enemies of Happiness’, directed by Eva Mulvad, won the award for the best international premiere in 2007. It follows Malalai Joya and her campaign to become an elected delegate in Afghanistan’s National Assembly.
Malalai Joya is one of the bravest politicians
working in Afghanistan. Her life has been in danger since 2003, after she
spoke out against the country’s Warlords. Despite four attempts on her life
she continues to spread her political message.
The films
tells her
story and those of many other women in Afghanistan.
The
screening was preceded by a shorter documentary, ‘Beth’s Diary’, which
is based around animated stills and video diary footage.
