Fellows' diaries 2007: Read about how the One
World Media Fellows got on during their visit to the UK
The One World Media Fellows were in the UK
from the 20th October to the 3rd November, and during this time they
met with various senior broadcasters to exchange ideas and share
their experience.
Throughout their stay they wrote
diary entries, describing their activities each day. They will write
about the people they meet, the things they learn, and the knowledge
they have shared.

For
the TV fellows our day started at Lion TV, one of the
biggest independent producers in UK. We met Richard Bradley,
Managing Director, who kindly told us everything about
independent producers in the UK and their relationship with
broadcasters.

is 5.45 pm and we all meet at the foyer of the Hotel ready
to meet the famous and loved Jon Snow. Jon is the main
presenter of Channel 4 News; he is famous for his colourful
silk ties and now he even co-ordinates the colour of his
socks too.

Friday, the 5th day of fellowship, we went to Oxford. It was
an amazing and very beautiful city. After lunch we went to
the Reuters Institute.

day begins with a tour of the BBC media centre, where we
talk to David Jordan, the controller, editorial policy at
the BBC. He explains at length the guidelines the BBC
follows in its broadcast.

starts with a 45-minute journey to the Sky offices in
Isleworth ... The atmosphere at Sky is relaxed and I feel
like I am at home.

Such a
day! In one day, the fellows learned about British
broadcasting policy and the biggest British broadcaster, the
BBC. We learned more about the BBC's system than we could
have done in a month.
