Links to film training opportunities
There are plenty of organisations that run training courses and workshops, some
of which are available at subsidised rates. Here are some of them:
Pact
- Pact is the UK trade association that represents and promotes the commercial
interests of independent feature film, television, animation and interactive
media companies. They have a number of training courses
BBC Training -
The BBC runs comprehensive practical and online courses (online courses are often
free) for industry professionals of all levels. They also run a number of
training and work experience schemes for industry new comers
Frontline Club -
There are a number of Frontline Training Courses, including a solo video
journalism course
Skill Set -
Skillset works to ensure that individuals and
organisations can access high quality vocational training. They have some
schemes targeted at new entrants to the industry
Raindance - A UK organisation founded by filmmakers, for filmmakers. They
run a number of courses, and their site also has articles and tips on filmmaking
VMI - Offers
technical training, equipment hire and crews, specific to making high definition
programmes or features
Script Factory -
Works to support
screenwriters by finding and developing new screenwriting talent
Dochouse
- An organisation supporting and promoting dcumentaries. They run Summerdocs, a summer school in
documentary film making
