How to get your film seen

If you have a film and you want to get it in front of an audience, you can investigate film festivals, competitions, and some TV and internet channels that screen and promote new film.

Film festivals and competitions

The Directory of International Film Festivals - An excellent website with information on over 600 film festivals taking place all around the world

Sheffield Doc/Fest - the UK's premier documentary film festival and takes place every year in November.

Britdoc Festival - A prestigious film festival which takes place at Kings College, Oxford every summer

Raindance Festival - Raindance runs a film festival every year in London

BBC New Talent - the BBC is trying to seek out the best up and coming filmmaking talent in the UK

TV and internet channels

Current TV - Current TV is Al Gore's brainchild: the only 24/7 cable and satellite television network and Internet site produced and programmed in collaboration with its audience

Propeller TV - Run by Sky, this is a national channel for film and television talent. They welcome submissions from students and independent filmmakers

Nomadsland - A website where you can upload films about social issues for free.
