Local
Media: Flight of the Goats
Every year Hazel Dunn’s goats give birth to more kids than she needs for her business. Normally they would be put down. But this story has a happy ending, as the film follows the journey of 300 Irish goats from Femanagh to a new life in Tanzania with farmer Yusuf Fumo and his family.
The
jury said:
“This film was full of energy and charm. It was a positive story about helping people to help themselves. By inspiring people to be more independent and self-sufficient this film brings new forms of improving development to light. It was well shot and well told with some great characters, not least of all the goats.”
Francis Gorman said:
“Damien and I are simply delighted to have won the award. We realised over the course of the evening in London that Jon Snow was correct when he said that these were the only awards worth winning. We both put a lot of work into making the programme and were thrilled when we learned that we had won.”
